A Personal Connection to Duarte

As the current Mayor of Duarte, and someone who has proudly called this community home for 38 years, my connection to Duarte runs deep. I’m not just a public servant—I’m a husband, a father of two boys, and a neighbor who cares deeply about the future of our town. My experience as an insurance broker and real estate agent has provided me with valuable insights into the economic and housing challenges we face. But above all, what drives me is my love for this community where I grew up and where my wife and I are raising our children.

Dedicated to Duarte’s Progress

My passion for Duarte is what inspired me to run for City Council, and it’s what fuels my dedication every day. I believe Duarte should be a place where everyone can thrive, and I’ve worked tirelessly to make that a reality. Whether focusing on sustainable economic growth, improving local services, or ensuring the safety and well-being of our seniors and youth, I’m committed to making Duarte the best it can be.

One of my proudest achievements as Mayor has been maintaining a calm and composed demeanor, even under pressure. This has allowed me to make informed decisions that truly reflect the needs and desires of our community.

I’m eager to continue this important work, to listen to your concerns, and to lead with empathy and proactive solutions. Duarte has given me so much, and I’m committed to giving back to this amazing community that my family and I are so fortunate to be a part of.

My Vision and Goals for Duarte

My vision is for Duarte to be a place where businesses thrive, jobs are created, and opportunities abound. I want our city to be recognized as one of the top foothill communities, where people are proud to live, work, and invest. To achieve this, I’m focusing on three key goals:

Developing Duarte Town Center

I’m committed to transforming our town center into a vibrant hub that reflects the heart and soul of our community. This means creating a space where businesses can flourish and residents can enjoy a lively, welcoming environment.

Expanding the Duarte Teen Center

Our youth are the future of Duarte. By expanding the Duarte Teen Center, we’ll provide more opportunities for our teens to learn, connect, and thrive, ensuring they have a place that supports their growth and development.

Advancing Broadband Development

In today’s digital age, reliable broadband access is essential. I’m working closely with city staff to implement strategies that will bring cutting-edge connectivity to all of Duarte, ensuring that our residents and businesses have the tools they need to succeed.

Addressing the Issues Facing Duarte Today

For me, everything starts with communication. By building strong relationships with each department, I can ensure we’re truly listening to and addressing the concerns of our residents. When it comes to public safety, economic development, and environmental sustainability, my approach is rooted in collaboration and understanding.

Public Safety

I will continue working closely with our law enforcement and community organizations to ensure that Duarte remains a safe place for everyone. This means being proactive and responsive to the needs of our residents.

Economic Development

My focus is on creating an environment where businesses can grow and contribute to our local economy. I’ll be a strong advocate for policies that support job creation and economic opportunities.

My Past Accomplishments

Over the past four years on the Duarte City Council, I’ve focused on commitment, innovation, and leadership. As your District representative, we have achieved:

Crime Reduction: Reduced crime by 15% through increased overnight patrols and the deployment of special assignment deputies.
Youth and Senior Investments: Expanded activities and upgraded facilities at the Teen Center and Senior Center, ensuring robust programs for both our young people and our elders.
City of Hope Collaboration: Partnered with City of Hope to enhance their campus, creating new jobs for residents and educational opportunities for students.
Economic Development: Secured over $4 million in grant funding, resulting in a stable, balanced budget with substantial reserves.

Looking Ahead: My Future Plans for Duarte

Duarte is a family-friendly city where residents enjoy a safe, clean environment. But our progress doesn’t stop here. Over the next four years, my plans include:

City Beautification: Enhancing medians, sidewalks, parks, and the bike trail to make our community even more inviting.
Promoting Responsible Growth: Encouraging responsible development to increase business opportunities while preserving the character of our city.
Youth and Senior Program Enhancements: Continuing to engage with the Mayor’s Youth Council and Senior Center to refine and expand programs for our youth and seniors.
Strengthening Public Safety: Maintaining our downward crime trend by implementing cutting-edge technologies to keep Duarte safe.
